Technical Art & Cinematography – Internship

Wispfire is looking for an ambitious technical artist and/or cinematographer, who wants to work on Wispfire’s new 2D narrative RPG. This internship is focused on the cinematography of the many Visual Novel style conversations in the game. All student of game-art and related disciplines, who want to explore cinematography and visual storytelling in games, are welcome to apply for this internship.

The internship will take place from September 1st 2026 until end of February 1st of 2027 on location at our office in Utrecht. This internship is intended for 3rd or 4th year students in a relevant field (Game Art).

Requirements:

  • A good understanding of composition and framing
  • Experience with creating (2D) visual effects in the Unity game engine
  • The interest to experiment with shaders and other visual trickery in Unity
  • Good written & verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a self-structured way

Pluses:

  • You enjoy games as a vehicle for telling stories
  • Loves narrative games, especially character-driven VN’s and (tactical) RPG’s
  • Experience with multilinear dialog editors
  • Affinity with dark and queer themes

Game & Narrative Design – Internship

Wispfire is looking for an ambitious all-round game & narrative design intern to assist in working on narrative scenes and gameplay for its new ambitious narrative RPG. You’ll be working closely with the team to improve the player experience in several ways, including (but not limited to) streamlining the gameplay, polishing the narrative and playtesting for bugs and other errors.

For this internship specifically, we’re especially looking for students with an eye for detail and an ability to test and fix gameplay and structure issues.

The internship will take place from September 1st 2026 until end of February 1st of 2027 on location at our office in Utrecht. This internship is intended for 3rd or 4th year students in a relevant field (Game Design).

Requirements:

  • Experience with the Unity game engine
  • Has some level of experience with game and narrative design work
  • You enjoy working closely with other designers, writers and artists
  • You are meticulous about playtesting and have good written reporting skills
  • Ability to work in a self-structured way

Plusses:

  • You enjoy games as a vehicle for telling stories
  • Loves narrative games, especially character-driven VN’s and (tactical) RPG’s
